Lately, we have been focusing on Evangelism & Witnessing with our Middle Schoolers.
As we thought through this week’s lesson plan earlier in the week, we received a call wondering if we wanted a guest speaker. It turned out that a couple missionary pastors from Mexico (Pastor Don Nagle & Pastor Ramon Ross Rubio), with Northern Lights Ministries were visiting and were willing to speak to our students.
Of course, nothing fits better into evangelism like missions, so we gladly welcomed them.
We started off with this week’s music video (“Go” by Hillsong United) to get the students settled and hopefully, somewhat focused. After a brief introduction of our guest speaker, Pastor Ramon began his message.
Though his English was labored a bit, he did a great job communicated with our students. He had a really great interactive Spanish lesson, regarding a Mexican parable. Following that, he pulled us into his text from the book of Acts and added in a few great testimonies from his work in Mexico.
The kids seemed to soak it up and hang on every word. I was impressed at how well they listened to him in comparison to how they listen to me. (I guess that’s okay considering he’s a guest!)
Finally, he gave a clear and thought-provoking Gospel presentation for those who did not know Christ, and a clear call to action for those who did. The students were definitely listening and I am certain that Pastor Ramon’s message was taken home in the hearts of our students. All-in-all, a great night!
Here’s the video that we started the evening off with last night. Though the video itself doesn’t display evangelistic content, the lyrical content definitely does! And best of all, it’s quite a catchy tune!
When’s the last time you were challenged or called to action by a missionary speaker?
