CONFESSING MY STRUGGLE WITH END TIMES THEOLOGY

And I mean struggle!

As a Christian, I firmly believe that Christ will return, and I long for this incredible event to take place. Christ’s return is foundational within the Biblical principles of eschatology, or the study of End Times. However, many of the other details surrounding eschatology can be interpreted differently, depending on who you might be speaking with.

Even well-study pastors and preachers will disagree on a variety of components such as timeline, people included or excluded, series of events, etc. This has culminated into multiple beliefs surrounding the End Times, separating certain denominations within the Evangelical Church.

These factors have caused me much concern over the last few years. When I read the book of Revelation for myself, I get one picture. Yet, depending on who I’m speaking with, they see the end in a slightly different conclusion.

Many of them, far more educated than I am, so how do I determine who’s right? I must confess, most of the time, I just avoid the topic of Eschatology completely, and hope for the best.
