HOW A DOMINICAN’S STORY BROUGHT A PERUVIAN INTO OUR FAMILY

Do you know about Compassion?

We’ve been supporting a Compassion Child for a couple of years now. It all started at Creation Festival, after listening to a young man from the Dominican Republic tell his life story.

He explained how his legacy was changed through Compassion. He was born into a life of poverty and had no opportunity to better himself or his family.

One day, he was adopted by a young girl from the United States. She too heard the call to action at a music festival. She decided it would be a worthwhile cause, to support a child. Soon enough, the young girl’s support started to give this Dominican boy a new life story. A life story that included adequate food and clothing, and best of all, an education.

The now, Dominican man before me, explained that he just finished his Master’s degree and that it all started with a young girl’s sponsorship. This man, now speaking before thousands, owes his thanks to God, but also to a young girl who made a small commitment.

I was sold and was going to sponsor a child.

That’s the day our family adopted little Jefferson. A young Peruvian boy who loves his grandmother, soccer, and Spider-Man (I think in that order). It has been a rich blessing receiving his little letters and drawings. In turn, it has been a joy bringing my two boys into the process of supporting Jefferson, like their South American brother.

If you have a chance, take a moment and check out the Compassion site. These folks aren’t about tying funds up in administration costs. The money goes to the kids, their families, and programs for their villages and neighborhoods.

Compassion is a high-quality outfit that I completely endorse. Please consider sponsoring a child today.
