HOW SHOULD WE MEMORIALIZE GOD’S GREATNESS?

Joshua 4:1-9

Joshua seemed to have no question as to whether or not God would fulfill His promises. Looking at the life of Joshua, we can see that he was a courageous man, full of faith. I am certain there is a connection between Joshua’s great faith and courage, and the amazing things God led him to experience. Before moving on with today’s post, take a quick look at Joshua 4:1-9.

Memorial stones.

I can’t help but think of the stones we set up today. Even as Christians, most of the time, it’s because of a specific person’s actions or some historical event. But how often do we put up a memorial for something God has done? In our culture, perhaps it would be considered strange.

Maybe even those in our Christian circles would say it’s not really worth it? Maybe, for the Christian world, the event would have to be something miraculous, like a river being stopped? Then again, who gets to define what is miraculous and what is not?

Regardless of the definition of a miracle, surely any event where God’s provision was evident would be a testimony for future generations. Would it not?

Think about this year.

What amazing struggle has God helped you overcome? What task has God given you the strength to complete? What incredible experience has God brought you through? What need has God provided out of nowhere? Think about this year. Perhaps, it’s time to put up a few memorials of God’s greatness.
