The Joy of the Believer

On that night when Christ was born, the shepherds experienced an incredible joy at the good news that the Messiah had finally arrived. However, there is also incredible joy for us, when we experience the Messiah for the first time.
Scripture tells us that when we receive and accept the Good News of the Gospel, we become sheep, belonging to the Good Shepherd.
“I am the good shepherd; I know my own sheep, and they know me, just as my Father knows me and I know the Father. So I sacrifice my life for the sheep.
I have other sheep, too, that are not in this sheepfold. I must bring them also. They will listen to my voice, and there will be one flock with one shepherd.”
Your Moment of Great Joy
When was that moment? When did you first submit to the Good News of the Gospel? When did you enter under the Good Shepherd’s care? When did you first hear the Good Shepherd’s voice?
Think about that moment and let it sink in a bit.
Hearing the Good Shepherd’s Voice
There is incredible joy in that moment. Joy when we know without a shadow of a doubt that we are in Jesus’ flock and no one can ever take us away from our Good Shepherd.
That joy that fills our hearts changes everything about us. Our desires, our habits, our relationships, our goals and aspirations; everything!
The Good Shepherd’s voice changes us.
When you first heard the Good Shepherd’s voice, how would you describe the joy that filled your heart?
