Sometimes things don’t go as planned.
We try asking God for answers. After all, He knows the why to any question. Alas, His answer usually doesn’t come right away.
The why always seems to be revealed a little further down the road.
I feel like this is my life lately.
Planning and preparing for something that doesn’t come to fruition. Most recently, yesterday.
This coming weekend was supposed to be our first Spring Clean-Up Weekend at camp. We were going to offer free lodging or camping to anyone willing to lend a hand.
Yesterday, we went up to see if the camp had thawed out enough to host the weekend.
I couldn’t believe it. It hadn’t.
There was still widespread areas of snow and the lake was still frozen.
Last year, we opened up the beginning of May and had a terrible situation. After turning on a water system we realised that our sewer system was still frozen.
That was a mess that we are not going to repeat!
This year, we gave it a couple of more weeks to thaw. We thought that would be enough.
Furthermore, after looking at the weather report for Waiparous, AB, we see rain for Friday through Sunday. Another good reason to cancel our weekend.
Clearly, God knows something that I don’t.
So, we’ll aim for the weekend of May 23-25. Hopefully, this weekend’s rain and some hot sun next week will finish the final thaw.
I need to learn, once again, how to rest in God’s timing. He knows I’m not good at it, which is maybe why He gives me so much practice.
He loves me enough to teach me.
Have your plans been recently sidelined?
Like me, you’re probably disappointed and frustrated. Yet, we should encourage each other to be okay with current results.
If it’s out of our control, then it must be in God’s control.
Proverbs 21 begins with these verses. “In the Lord’s hand the king’s heart is a stream of water that he channels toward all who please him. A person may think their own ways are right, but the Lord weighs the heart.” (21-1-2)
May we not get so focused on writing our own plans, that we forget the true author of them.
When’s the last time your plans failed? When’s the last time your schedule was sidelined? How did you feel? How did your react? What was the final outcome?
