Unfortunately, each of us carries a sin nature that we were born with, so we will all carry a certain amount of debris on us. Throughout our lives, we do have choices as to how much debris we pick up from the places we go and the people we associate with.
Human beings have been tempted to keep a spiritual checklist for centuries; striving to do enough good or avoid enough bad to be accepted by God. It’s an unhealthy temptation of our sinful nature that slips into the church. It surfaces when someone is trying to be a “good Christian” by adhering to certain rules and standards.
Simple acts of service can have a lasting impact if we would only embrace them wholeheartedly. And they’re so worth it! Serving Christ brings about a closeness to Him that doesn’t come from being the Sunday spectator. Serving brings a fulfilment into your spiritual life that sleeping in or watching Netflicks will never give you!
