God Is for Us
When Life Feels Overwhelming
Sometimes we forget that God is for us. Life piles on (work, family, pressure, uncertainty) and we get lost in the noise. I’ve had days when I felt buried, trying to carry everything myself. Yet Paul’s words in Romans 8 remind me that the same God who “did not spare his own Son, but gave him up for us all” will also “graciously give us all things.”
If you’re feeling weighed down today, try writing out what’s troubling you. Make a list. Pray through it line by line. It’s not complicated, but it’s powerful. When we hand our worries to God, we’re reminded that His strength never runs out and His love never fades.
Nothing Can Separate Us
Later in the chapter, Paul writes:
“Who shall separate us from the love of Christ? Shall tribulation, or distress, or persecution, or famine, or nakedness, or danger, or sword?… No, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him who loved us.” (Romans 8:35, 37)
That phrase ” more than conquerors” has anchored me through hard seasons. It doesn’t mean life gets easier. It means we belong to the One who’s already overcome. Even when your list feels long, nothing on it can stand between you and the love of Christ.
A Song That Stuck with Me
As I conclude this post, I can’t help but think back to my younger years. The phrase “more than conquerors” reminds me of a Christian punk band I listened to called Dogwood. They released an album with that same title, and the words from the title track still come to mind:
“We have a certain calling to rise above the rest.
Even when our human nature says we’re not the best.
And when trials and tribulations can put you to the test.
God is for us. None’s against us.”
May these lyrics (based on Romans 8) hold true in your life today.
