Dear Unvaccinated, I Love You (and This Is Why)

It’s Valentine’s Day.

Today is the time of year when we show our love and gratitude for the most important people in our lives. This morning, I’d like to tell all my unvaccinated friends and family that I love you! Why?

Well, even though I chose to be double vax’d and even got a booster, I have learned so much from you throughout the pandemic, and in particular over this past year. I have witnessed incredible strength and resolve, as you faced heavy destain and coercion, loss of careers and even relationships.

Through it all, you have held fast to your convictions. Which in turn, has caused me to reflect on my own convictions. How far would I go to stand up for what I believe in?

You’ve taught me so much and I love you for it!

To My Vaccinated Friends and Family:

Of course, I love you too! I’d encourage you to join with me, in sending a little love to the unvaccinated today. Why?

Well, some of us have developed a callous heart for those on the other side over the past couple of years. However, the situation is changing and they will soon be average citizens once again. It’s better to start mending those relationships now before too much damage has been done.

We should all remember that Jesus was pretty clear about loving our enemies. Although it’s not easy, and perhaps not exactly what Valentine’s Day is all about; we can make choice to flip the script. And we’ll all be better off for doing it!

43 “You have heard that it was said, You shall love your neighbor and hate your enemy.’ 44 But I say to you, Love your enemies and pray for those who persecute you, 45 so that you may be sons of your Father who is in heaven. For he makes his sun rise on the evil and on the good, and sends rain on the just and on the unjust. 46 For if you love those who love you, what reward do you have? Do not even the tax collectors do the same? 47 And if you greet only your brothers, what more are you doing than others? Do not even the Gentiles do the same? 48 You therefore must be perfect, as your heavenly Father is perfect. (Matthew 5:43-48 – ESV)

So to the Unvax’d and Vax’d, Happy Valentine’s Day! I love you both!

Your thoughts are valuable! Why not leave a few?
