Merry Christmas From the Norton Family

Christmas In Whitehorse, Yukon Territory

Posted December 21st, 2015

Norton Family - Christmas 2015Even though this past September marked one year in the Yukon, this will be our first White(horse) Christmas! We spent last Christmas in Holland with my parents. Where does the time go?

Looking back on our first year in the Yukon, the weather wasn’t much of an adjustment for our family. Four years in Alaska (2008-2012) prepared us for Northern climate. That being said, there were definitely some Yukon-cultural adjustments, as well as getting our feet under us in a new church in a new community. Nevertheless we’re happy to report that Whitehorse has truly become the home we were always yearning for. We really couldn’t imagine living anywhere else!

I continue my pastoral work with Mountainview Church. There are always new opportunities to serve others and spread the message of Jesus Christ. As Associate Pastor, I have continued to oversee our Community Groups (small groups) and the Camp Ministry. However, in the absence of a Lead Pastor, I’ve also picked up some administrative and counselling duties, as well as preaching twice a month.

Nicole is still enjoying her time at home with our boys throughout the week. Although, recently she has started an administrative position, working one day per week, on Fridays when I’m off. She has also been very involved with church life, working in the nursery and child check-in, attending a weekly Ladies Bible Study and this Christmas, helping with the annual Ladies Christmas Tea.

Jude started 2nd grade this year. He seems to fair well in all his subjects, though his energetic disposition and love for the outdoors leans him to enjoy recess and gym more than classwork. Although, he does enjoy his computer class…they use Macs!

Luke is at home with Mom for one more year. He’s more of our ‘indoor’ fair-weather boy. Reading books, colouring and Lego are his favourite pastimes. That being said, when older brother gets home, he drags him out for some backyard adventures.

And soon there will be three. An ultrasound on November 20th showed that we will be having our 3rd little boy. I am thrilled for a second generation Norton-Trio! (I was the first of 3 boys.) Nicole is also very pleased. The grandparents on the other hand, are adjusting to the news. (They wanted a girl.)

Goodbye to 2015

As 2015 draws to an end, thank you, our friends and family for a fantastic year. Thank you to my readers who continue to support LeadBiblically.com. Please continue to pray for our family as we strive to serve the City of Whitehorse. Please pray for me, that I would continue to be the leader that God has called me to be.

Peace,
Jeremy
