WAITING (AND SPIRITUALLY PREPARING) FOR COVID-19

We’re watching news updates.

From afar, Northerners like myself, have all been watching as COVID-19 spreads throughout the world. Although the health of Yukoners hasn’t been impacted in a major way as of yet, it is a definite possibility.

How should we prepare?

Our lives may be interrupted considerably in the coming weeks.

If, and more likely, when this takes place, we may experience a season of suffering that we are not accustomed to. If that takes place, the Apostle Peter provides some important insight:

Humble yourselves, therefore, under the mighty hand of God so that at the proper time he may exalt you, casting all your anxieties on him, because he cares for you…

…knowing that the same kinds of suffering are being experienced by your brotherhood throughout the world. And after you have suffered a little while, the God of all grace, who has called you to his eternal glory in Christ, will himself restore, confirm, strengthen, and establish you.

1 Peter 5:6-10

May we be humble.

May we take a humble approach to the anxieties of this world, relying on the hope we have in Jesus.

May we resist any spirit of fear, choosing to rest in the confidence that the Good News of Jesus provides.

May we resist temptation, and stand firm in our faith.

We will lean into His grace and truth.

From the Apostle Paul, written to the Ephesian Church, who also faced uncertain times:

For by grace you have been saved through faith. And this is not your own doing; it is the gift of God, not a result of works, so that no one may boast. For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand, that we should walk in them.

Ephesians 2:8-10

You too, can be saved!

You too, can receive His grace!

Becoming His workmanship, you will receive the Gospel voice of calm and wisdom, amongst the voices of anxiety and emotion that grip our culture.

In this moment, you can lean into Jesus, speak with Him, and choose to accept Him. Regardless of what the future may hold, He will secure your heart, and mind, and most importantly, your eternity.
