WILL THE NEXT DECADE BE ANY DIFFERENT?

Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!

Can you believe we’re almost into 2020? Starting a new decade feels more important somehow, doesn’t it? Looking back over ten years brings about a lot of reflection!

Have I lived a full decade? Have I embraced every opportunity? Have I challenged myself over these ten years? Have I contributed to my community, to my country, to the world? How have I impacted the lives of others? Positivity? Negatively? Not at all?

Will the next decade be any different?

I think we all want to believe that the last decade mattered. That the next decade will matter. And that our entire existence matters; on a greater, deeper level past day-to-day life, reverberating into the great unknown.

Believe it or not, you do matter! Your life does matter, and your existence matters far greater than you could ever hope or imagine! And this holiday season, specifically how it all began, confirms it year after year, decade after decade.

You see, over 2000 years ago, God looked down at the humanity He created with love, and a desire to restore a broken relationship. To restore what was broken by humanity’s pride and self-focused existence, He sent the gift of His Son, Jesus Christ. This plan for restored relationship is recounted by Jesus’ disciple, John, in the Bible:

“For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life. For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but in order that the world might be saved through him.”

John 3:16-17

Maybe you’re wondering, what does this have to do with me? What does this have to do with the next decade of my life? Well, by accepting the gift of God’s Son, you receive the gift of a more purposeful life; one that never ends!

I know that’s hard to believe, but it’s true.

If you’re interested in knowing more (or skeptical if it’s true), here are a few options:

Warm regards,
Jeremy Norton
